It was March, and I was in the middle of tax prep season, gathering all of the information from our lawn service business that I would need to submit to our tax guy, so I was in my home office more than usual.
One day I walked in and noticed something taped to the right corner of my monitor. A two-and-a-quarter by three-and-a-half-inch photo. A college senior photo of my husband from 36 years ago, suddenly taped up for my viewing pleasure.
I found this hilarious.
I was vaguely aware that there was a short stack of these photos in my top desk drawer, next to a small box of Caleb's senior photos (guys don't hand out senior photos, even if their moms optimistically order them). Dave must have been looking for a postage stamp when he stumbled upon this ancient stash.
But what made him think to put it up on my monitor? He had to open an adjoining drawer to procure a tape dispenser and an inch of tape, and align it just so.
College grad Dave's contemplative gaze, complete with chin (almost) resting on his hand, as if he is thinking about the algebraic equation he just solved, was out of character way back then. Now even more so.
The fact that he taped it up makes me laugh. And it's still there.
